I was wondering if there was anyone on this site with a similar situation? I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes with my first pregnancy. With my second pregnancy I was tested at 18 weeks and they found extremely high levels and they guessed the diabetes was preexisting.

Has anyone else had gestational diabetes that ended up not going away with delivery?

Hi Ashley! I'm not in your situation, but I know someone who is...it was her second child, and she had gestational, and immediately after was diagnosed with Type 1. She was 34 when she was diagnosed....and she's a doctor. I thought it sounded odd...but she says it definitely happens. You're not alone! Good luck with everything!

That'd be me...after having our 3rd son. I had heard soo many times that it should go away after the pregnancy, I didn't even go back to my endo for a check up, I slept alot, didn't feel like myself, figured it was simply because I'd just had a baby. Pulled out my testing supplies that'd were put away and my sugar was almost 450. Needless to say went back to the dr. Test results were type 1. I take 4 shots a day and am thinking about, thinking about looking at pumps..
I wouldn't trade this baby for anything in the world, but did not expect this to come out of it. I am healthy, play softball, volleyball, run 5ks..I just didn't expect it.
