I just googled to find a forum to discuss this. I can't sleep for the pain. I use a CPAP machine. And for a while it was the best thing in the world. Until my neuropathy started. First it was just a small patch on my thigh that felt like I had burned myself. Now it's a huge spot that wakes me feeling like I have put it up against a hot stove. And my hand. First it starts tingling in the little finger and down the arm then it works its way over to the next finger. The tingling turns into numbness. The numbness turns into extreme throbbing pain. Sometimes just my right hand sometimes both. And my left heel. It's the same. It keeps me awake all night in pain. If I stand up and walk most of it goes away.I've had nerve studies. They indicate all sorts of abnormalities. I take 6 - 600 mg of Gabapentin, 1 - 100 mg Topamax, 1 - 25 mg Amitriptyline, 4- 5mg/325mg oxycodone, 4- 400 mg Ibuprofen plus my insulin and other medications for COPD, Emphysema and PAD. I am seriously overweight but going to Weight Watchers and do keep my sugars under control.
I just started seeing a neurologist my primary care doctor referred me too. He added the Amitriptyline. I have only been on it a few days so I don't know if it is going to help or not. I was reluctant to start it as a side effect is weight gain and that is the last thing I need.
Anyone with info of advice or just a few words of encouragement is welcome.
