New to this community. Just curious if anyone has experienced leg pain while using Byetta. I did for 6 months, then went off the Byetta and the leg pain immediately went away. Some soreness now and then remains in the leg. Am concerned about the side effects and possible damage as a result of the Byetta.

Welcome to the community

If you do a search for Byetta using the search link in the upper right of this page, you'll find over a dozen topics being discussed by other members that you may find helpful (and worth getting in on).

Hope that helps.

Hi. You might try inquiring on the "Type 2 Diabetes" board above, where there are some Byetta users. Good luck.

I have leg pain.
Four weeks ago I started Byetta. Two days later the pain in my thigh started, and after 10 days
my doctor told me to stop. Now 3 weeks after stoping I still have the pain.
I have the same concerns you have.
Would like to hear from you.
My e-mail is wilo8430@comcast.net
I am new also.

Good to hear from you. I started having excrutiating pain in my right hip and leg area shortly after starting the byetta. Did not have pain in that area at all prior to the byetta use. It became unbearable even when laying down on my left side. After stopping the byetta, the excrutiating pain went away immediately, but still have some soreness and slight pain occasionally, as if the leg has been injured and is slowly healing. This is not listed as a side effect of byetta, and my doctor pretty much blew me off about it. I am convinced though that byetta is the culprit. I am curious about the pain being on the right side, and the pancreas is located on the right side. You know that byetta influences the pancreas to secrete, so am wondering if it caused an inflammation in that area which could have affected nerves in the area, which in turn lead to the pain. I could be totally off base here, but I do know one thing for sure, and that is I am better off without the byetta if that is the kind of results I am going to have with it. Thanks for sharing with me, and I would like to hear more from you. Tell me what kind of response did your doctor give you, and where are you at with the pain now?

Good to hear from you.
Adding to my original post.
I had an xray on 4/19....was normal.
On 4/26 My Endocrineologist suggested I get an EMG which I am having done on 5/2.I also have an appointment with an Orthopedist on 5/8.
I also feel that the drug affected nerves in my upper leg(Thigh-deep inside),either directly or indirectly. I had no problem (no pain) until the next day after trying Byetta. That day was a nightmare. I have been hoping now for some 3 weeeks the pain would subside.. no better. I use to work out 3 o 4 times a week at the gym. Now I find it hard to stand to shave. I am anxious to get the results of the EMG.
I am glad you have no more severe pain, however I too and very worried about possible damage.
Thanks for sharing. Keep in touch and I will tell you about the EMG.

Hi,

My mom suffers from chronic leg pain, and we have seen any number of doctors...

I have been doing (amateur) research on various types of leg pain and have put up a page with resources and links for the same - http://www.billdoll.com/dir/health/q/leg...

This page is not specific to Byetta use, though, it is for leg pain from various causes

Check out if that page is of use to you - it has been put up for those suffering from chronic leg pain, but I have provided related resources as well

NS

Earlier this year I was on byetta for about 6 weeks, I started having mild pain in legs, really didnt think too much about it as I have a bad back even though this was different, it was like in the bone between knee and ankle. Shortly after legs started, both lower arms started to ache, then I begin to have abdmonial pain which over a few days became severe. I found a post on web about Byetta and pancreatis (sp) and quit taking the shots. Over a 3 day period the pain in abdomen subsided and quit. My leg pain inproved but still will suddenly start and I can hardle walk for a few minutes. My arms have not improved and have gotten worse. Any pulling or pushing results in excruiating pain between elbow and wrist. Most times I can not support my upper body with my arms if I have to get in floor, have to support on elbows. I have had MRI of both sholders and neck. I do have a small spur in socket of right sholder but Dr. said definately wasnt reason for pain and weakness in lower arms. Neck MRI shows no problems.
My Dr. agreed that Byetta was likely cause of abdominal pain after I told him pain stopped after I stopped shots. But basically got a "NO WAY" from both doctors when I suggested that arm and leg pain was due to Byetta. I've seen several post about leg pain here... Has any one also had arm pain????
Thanks for any info.
