Considering using an insuling pump, and trying to decide which brand/model to go with.
Would appreciate anyone who could provide personal experience feedback. Would not only like thoughts on the pump you use, but also customer sevice/support of the manufacturer.

I can't believe you haven't had a reply yet! Well my niece uses a pump - and her life has completely changed.
She can now go on field trips and have a near normal bagged lunch like all the other kids. She can't abuse the carbs - but if lunch involves more carbs than usual - she tells her pump and makes an adjustment.

She no longer has to "stick herself" throughout the day with insulin.

She loves it.

There were a few draw backs to deal with but they have learned to live with it and are now trying to encourage my husband to go to the insulin pump!

Ask your doctor for brochures on insulin pumps. Mine just gave me a couple different ones to help me decide. Next month my doctor will put in a device so he can download my sugar levels in his office. After that I will go with an insulin pump. It'll be much nicer than four shots a day. Also, while at my endocrinologist this week I was shown a new device that will be out in about a year. It's connected like an insulin pump but will check your sugar levels every five minutes or so. If your levels go too high or too low, it will beep to let you know. Too cool!

I've been using a minimed 772 pump for about a month now and I am really torn. It's nice not having to get out all the injection stuff. But I keep getting infections, leakage, and it just can't keep my BG numbers down as low as I was with needles. I just had a reading of over 570 and had to change the infusion set since I figured it is plugged up with infection again. I really want this to work but I wonder if it ever will. I get so frustrated I want to give it back and just use needles since they are reliable. I expect they'll get it down in a couple of years and it will be easier and more reliable. Hopefully then the insurance will cover the continuous monitoring sensors and the costs will come down.

I have been on a pump for 4 months now.I think I've got it down to a science.I find that if I put it where there is more fat that muscle I don't have problems but if I put it where the muscle is I have problems with the tube getting kinked where the insulin goes in your body. It's sad but they have had pumps out since I was first diagnosed 23 years ago.Improvement is much needed. Are you using the IV preps before you insert?that should keep infection away.

I know this is an "old" thread, but for anyone who stumbles upon this area, please know that I have been on an Animas pump for 6 years and LOVE IT!! I am actually on my 3rd model (lucky enough to have good insurance coverage) and I wouldn't even think of going to back to shots. Or even to a different pump company for that matter. Animas may not introduce all the cutting edge stuff the way Medtronic does, but what they do introduce is a solid, quality pump with everything I need and none of the "frills" that I don't (sorry Medtronic, but I don't see a need for a "square wave bolus")
Anyway, I could go on all day about how my pump has saved my life, literally, and I wouldn't trade it for anything but a cure

I've been using the deltec for a couple years and it works well for me. The glucose meter that attaches can act kind of finicky though. I was looking online the other day and noticed the new color screen one that animas came out with, the pink one - lots of features and very cute!
